Life/ The power of No for the busy mom

No is such a small word but so powerful. On my journey to a healthier me I learned to say no to things that prohibited my self-care. We can be busy doing a lot of nonproductive things that keep us from having the life we truly love. Learning to set priorities and base my actions accordingly was a challenge and definitely began the journey of healing from the people pleasing disease. I felt horrible when I agreed to do things that I really didn't want to or need to do. This has been a process and so worth the challenge of change. When I learned the power of no and began saying yes to me, my family and purpose, my insight on life changed. I discovered everybody wasn't comfortable with me saying no with no explanation, and from a recovering people pleaser that is challenging to say the least. I learned I am not responsible for peoples reaction to me saying no without explanation. The more that I said no the easier it got and the freer I got. It is ok to tell your kids no not today mommy is tired and not feel guilty for nurturing yourself. Stop placing unrealistic expectations on yourself and learn to love yourself and your life. Make the decision today to say no to things that don't serve your life, priorities and purpose and say yes to living a life that looks good and feels good. Below I am sharing 5 things to do today to embrace the power of NO.

  • Write a list of your daily tasks and determine what things you really don't have to do or you can get help and delegate tasks, hint hint You'd be surprised what those children of ours can do.
  • Teach your children to respect your quiet or private time.
  • Create a schedule (Time management will bless ya)
  • Stop accepting and saying yes to things instantly and not even consulting your schedule or if it is for you to do.
  • Say No without explanation to things that are not for you.

Life/ Creating a at home spa for busy mom's

We are so busy taking care of everything and everybody that we forget to pamper and care for ourselves. A spa day was pricey for me and so I have learned to create a spa experience at home and can enjoy it when I want right at home. I am sharing because I want there to be reason you can't implement self-care and nurturing. Below I am sharing a home spa experience that will leave you refreshed and feeling great.

What you'll need

  • Bathtub
  • Candles
  • Sparkling cider or wine of choice
  • Glass ( I love glasses with cute sayings)
  • Bath pillow ( can be purchased at Dollar store)
  • Scrub for face and body
  • Pedicure kit
  • Relaxing music
  • Oil warmer or diffuser and your favorite relaxing essential oil ( you can purchase a oil warmer at Dollar store)
  • Rice milk for the bath ( makes your skin feel great)
You can customize it to you liking but this is my ritual

AT HOME SPA DIRECTIONS

  • Run a warm bath and add 1 cup of rice milk
  • Start your Relaxing music
  • Light your candles around the tub
  • Light your oil warmer or turn on oil diffuser
  • Set up your spa material by the tub (pedicure set, scrub etc.)
  • Pour your glass of sparkling cider or wine
  • Position your bath pillow and get on in the water
  • Soak, scrub skin and feet
  • RELAX RELAX RELAX
This works best if you have a sitter or if you don't set up the children for movie night and tell them don't disturb mommy it's me time. You deserve it and so much more.

Enjoy and share with me how you enjoyed your experience.

Life/ 10 things to help busy mom's to take control and implement self-care

Self-care for the busy mom can feel like just another task that you just don't have time for, but is vital to you and your families well being. As mothers we give in so many capacities and often neglect our self-care. As a busy mom I have learned that challenges will come, so we must be masters of life management. I don't buy into the myth anymore that as a mom we come last on the priority scale. I now know that in order for me to be the best mother I need to embrace and make my self-care a priority. Your self-care should not ever be optional. I tell you from experience I am more available mentally, emotionally and relationally for my children when I take care of myself. So today I tell you DONT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF, IT IS OK! Below I am sharing 10 things that will help you to take control of your life and enable you to implement self-care.

  • Therapy/Coaching-To help if you're feeling overwhelmed and need help sorting through things to work on a plan.
  • To do list- To help you keep perspective on your tasks for the day, so you are not all over the place. Stick to the things you have on the list to eliminate unnecessary challenges.
  • The power of NO- Yes NO even to the children if it is not a necessary task don't feel bad about saying NO to things you just don't have to do.
  • Create a Schedule- A schedule is great because you know what you have to do and so that eases tension and make things more manageable.
  • Me time- Make arrangements for the family and go out and do something you like, even if it's getting a room and relaxing to recharge.
  • Build a reliable village- Build a village (a group of reliable helpers) that supports you and you can entrust the care of your children when you need a break or me time.
  • Make your self-care mandatory- Make the decision your self-care is not optional but mandatory.
  • Set clear priorities/boundaries- This helps to make decisions based on your priorities and set boundaries to have control in what and how you do things in your life.
  • Train your children to be independent where they can- This one is everything, because we are to train our children to be productive adults, and this is a benefit for you and them short and long term. (examples: teach them to do chores, teach them to fix themselves something to eat, teach them to be responsible for their actions, teach them honesty, and teach them conflict management) This can be time consuming but in the end you will be grateful, trust me.
  • Never be ashamed to ask for help
