The Journey
I started this journey 4 years ago, having no idea what would come of it. I knew I was tired of being sick and tired (literally). I was diabetic, over weight, exhausted, depressed and dealing with high blood pressure. I started on a journey to a better and healthier me. My faith is the biggest thing that kept me going when I didn't see results and wanted to give up. The picture on the left was my heaviest, at almost 200 pounds and struggling with depression. My first step was deciding to live a healthier lifestyle and everything else followed. I share my story because I am challenged seeing woman neglect their health and existing instead of living as I once did. I destroyed the mentality that as a mom I had to put my self on the back burner for my family. I now realize the reason I take care of me is to be a better me for them. I started out wanting to be a certain size, and as I grew in understanding it became more important to me to be healthy. I started out only exercising 5 minutes, because I was so out of shape and that was all I could do. Today I excercise 3-5 days a week at an hour or more intervals. Making the decision to take control of my health opened doors to change my entire life, mind, body, soul, and spirit.
3 things I learned about myself on this journey
- I am a emotional eater and a lot of my weight gain came from unresolved emotional issues.
- I did not truly love and honor myself properly.
- Nobody else is responsible for my health, it has to be a priority for me.
- Even on days I don't want to work out I put on my workout clothes and motivating music and take it one exercise at a time and I look up and I'm a hour in (It has become a lifestyle).
- Being consistent even when I fall off, just don't stay there.
- I DON"T deprive myself, I eat things I enjoy just in moderation and proper proportions.
- I am no longer insulin dependent and show no signs of diabetes
- I no longer have high blood pressure
- I no longer have migraine head aches
- I am on a journey of emotional health and healing
- I have maintained a healthy lifestyle for over 4 years
- I feel so much better in my body, and have so much more energy
